Vinted Shoppers Share Displeasure About Size Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes without notifying every member regarding the update.
Social Media Reaction
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to review their products and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Updates
Earlier, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Stories
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Manual Updates
A different user, located in England, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options after backlash from users.
